Communications Strategy

26 April 2025

The Communications Strategy Team has been working hard to raise the profile of the Flood Action 4 Buckingham group among key stakeholders and the wider community in Buckingham and surrounding areas. They’ve produced a range of materials to promote the group and its aims, including FA4B logo, posters, flyers and banners, to ensure the group are highly visible and easily recognised by both local residents and our target stakeholders - look out for them around the town!

Drains and Gullies

26th April 2025

The Drains, Culverts, Gullies and Underground Pipes team aim is to identify organisations and individuals responsible for the associated water management infrastructure. The team will assess whether the stakeholders are taking the required action and how effective that action is in reducing the risk of flooding in Buckingham. Where the stakeholders are not discharging their responsibilities, the group will seek to remind them and if necessary, hold them to account.

We have made good contacts with various responsible organisations, for example Anglian Water, Buckinghamshire Council and Buckingham Town Council, however action taking is proving a challenge and chasing is time consuming..

The group have recently had success in identifying ownership of a blocked culvert in the park and an open manhole in the same area and are working to have these urgently dealt with.

The group have registered a number of drain and gully issues on the council's chosen tool, "FixMyStreet", these have also been successfully dealt with. These requests have led to a number of drains being attended and cleaned along with a number of other items being dealt with by the correct group.

Self-Help

The River Maintenance Self-Help group are methodically cleaning sections of the river on a regular basis, currently weekly. A large quantity of rubbish and organic matter has been removed from each of these locations. The aim is to ensure the free flow of the river through town with no hindrance or opportunity for further blockages to develop. To see a number of before and after pictures of the work over the last couple of months please visit the Gallery page.
