FA4B shares Buckingham’s flood resilience experience with Stony Stratford

Thursday the 8th October, Flood Action 4 Buckingham (FA4B) attended a meeting of the Stony Stratford Flood Group to share the work being undertaken in Buckingham and learn more about the challenges and initiatives facing the Stony Stratford community.

The meeting provided a valuable opportunity for both groups to exchange experiences, discuss flood risk and explore how communities can work together to improve flood resilience across the wider River Great Ouse catchment.

Following the meeting, Friday the 16th October, FA4B joined members of the Stony Stratford group for a walk along the river to see first-hand the issues affecting the local area. During the walk, the team photographed a number of potential pinch points, fallen trees and locations where river maintenance and clearance work could offer opportunities for improvement.

Seeing the problems on the ground is an important part of building a clearer picture of flood risk and identifying practical opportunities for action.

Flooding does not stop at community boundaries, and neither should efforts to address it. By sharing knowledge, evidence and experience, FA4B and neighbouring flood groups can help build a stronger collective understanding of the challenges facing communities along the Great Ouse.

FA4B looks forward to continuing this constructive exchange and working with neighbouring communities and relevant agencies to support practical, coordinated action to improve flood resilience.
